WHY HENKEL HARRIS FOR YOUR HOME OR OFFICE?
More
often than not, when most companies want to expound on the virtues of
their product, they will go into detail about their physical plant,
systems, advanced technology and marketing plans. No one will argue that
these are not vital to the overall success of any manufacturing
organization and, in fact, Henkel Harris has all these ingredients.
However, the most important element in this process, the catalyst that
makes all this work, is found in people who care. Henkel Harris is
indeed fortunate to have such employees and every day they demonstrate
their ability to consistently meet the highest standards imposed by
loyal customers who demand the best and accept nothing less.
1.
FIRST QUALITY MATERIALS - Henkel Harris purchases only the highest
grades of lumber - cherry, oak, maple and birch, all Appalachian
hardwoods. In addition, genuine mahogany from South America and
Africa
are the same woods used by famous artisans of the past, such as Thomas
Chippendale and George Hepplewhite. All lumber is graded and kiln dried
to a 6-8% moisture content, a level which is ideal for fine cabinet
work.
2.
BOARD MATCHING - The wood for all surface areas is matched for grain and
for color, a step most manufacturers do not even consider. The matching
process, although time consuming, enhances continuity of grain color and
pattern not found in most competitors' products. The boards are then
glued with a polyvinyl tightbond glue that is actually stronger than the
wood. Beautiful veneers are applied over core stock of six ply
construction for long term stability.
3.
TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT - Skilled operators set up and monitor some of
the most advanced woodworking machinery available. These computer
controlled machines guarantee consistent accuracy and efficiency. Henkel
Harris also has its own fully equipped grinding center which ensures
that all knives and cutter heads are built to exact specifications with
total control of the quality and absolute adherence to the standard
required.
4.
METICULOUS HAND CARVING - The delight of seeing wood carved well is
shared by all who know beauty and respect it. Henkel Harris has
endeavored to increasingly include deliberate and robust carvings in
many new pieces. Whether carving a simple fluted column or elaborate
cabriole leg, each carver knows that the Henkel Harris reputation is at
stake in the successful articulation of the carving. After the carver
has completed his or her task, each piece is inspected completely to
make sure that it is correct in each detail before going to assembly. It
is this commitment to treating furniture-making as an art that
distinguishes Henkel Harris from others.
5.
HAND SANDING - Often overlooked, unimaginable hours of meticulous hand
sanding, after intense machine sanding, are spent preparing the wood
surface for finishing. This is a vital prerequisite for achieving the
depth and clarity of finish for which we are known. The parts are then
fitted and assembled by our skilled case fitters and sanded again.
6.
DRAWER CONSTRUCTION - Careful cabinetry is evident in the hardy red oak
construction, dovetailed corners and completely finished satiny
interiors that protect the most delicate apparel. The drawers are deep
to give you more storage space. Maple drawer guides allow full and level
extension of drawers. Built-in stops prevent drawers from accidentally
being pulled out of the case and also keep the drawers from dropping off
center when fully extended. Oak drawer bottoms 1/4" thick and full
length wood strips under drawers provide strong, quietly working
drawers. All cases have 3/16" white birch dust panels.
7.
RICH ENDURING FINISH - The finish on Henkel Harris is extraordinary.
Over one-third of Henkel Harris I employees are in the finishing and
rubbing areas Many hand
steps are required to fully reveal the beauty, depth and warmth of
cherry and mahogany wood grains. Patient hand rubbing and sanding steps
are interspersed with hand filling techniques that unify surface texture
and fill pores. Hand color shading and matching of boards make it
difficult to tell how many boards are used to make a top or side. Henkel
Harris' finish has a unique natural patina that will only serve to
enhance the piece in future years.
8.
HAND SET GLASS - Mullions in all china doors are individually shaped and
hand fitted into each door frame. Each individual pane of glass in a
Henkel Harris china, corner cupboard or secretary is installed and
glazed in place by hand, a clear sign of quality and similar to how a
fine antique would be constructed. This is both a costly and time
consuming process requiring the talents of skilled artisans.
9.
SOLID BRASS HARDWARE - All hardware used on Henkel Harris furniture is
made of costly solid brass. Antique fittings made by metalworkers of
yesteryear serve as patterns for each design. Molten brass is poured
into sand casts and allowed to cool. This process results in small
imperfections of finish which add charm and uniqueness to the hardware
and to the furniture it adorns. This time honored process is captured in
Henkel Harris' hardware designs, all selected to complement our woods
and finishes.
10.
INVESTMENT QUALITY - The 18th and 19th century antique reproductions of
Henkel Harris offer distinct advantages. The use of choice solid woods,
carefully selected veneers of the finest quality, craftsmanship of
enviable accomplishment and a finishing technique unsurpassed in the
industry echoes the criteria of the early master cabinetmakers. Whether
executed in cherry or mahogany, each piece represents Henkel Harris'
commitment to the standard of balanced form and function. All Henkel
Harris furniture is made in the
